Meet The instructors
Alex Clark
Owner & Chief Instructor
Alex graduated from Winthrop University majoring in criminal sociology in Spring 2005.

Shortly after graduation, he joined a local sheriff’s office and currently has over 16 years of law enforcement experience. He is an assigned detective working Cyber Crimes & Digital Forensics. He has been an avid shooter for most of his life and thoroughly enjoys teaching other people.
Alex is a certified firearms instructor through the National Rifle Association and the recognized as a concealed weapons permit instructor by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Association.
He is continuing his education online through Eastern Gateway Community College where he is studying business management and cyber security.
He has been married to Charlotte for over 13 years and they have four sons. Charlotte works for the same agency and assists with classroom logistics.
Charlotte Clark
Assistant
Charlotte Clark has worked for the same agency as a police officer for the past 3 years, and she assists with classroom logistics.
She graduated from Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian College in Spring 2007. She holds two bachelor's degrees including biology and religion & psychology.
After graduation, Charlotte worked in the private security sector for over 10 years, as well as spent a year teaching at a private school.
In 2015, Charlotte went to work as a guard at a non-local detention center. She then transferred to a local detention center for an additional two years before returning to the academy and gaining her certification as a police officer through SLED.
Charlotte is an avid shooter as well and occasionally outshoots her husband on the range. He will adamantly deny this during class.
Gary Pence
Assistant
Gary graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Wildlife & Fisheries Biology in 2015, and serves as an assistant instructor on the range.
Gary joined a local Sheriff’s Office immediately after college where he serves as a Uniformed Patrol Supervisor and on the K9 Response Team.
Gary serves as an instructor for new hires at his department along with being a Field Training Officer and Field Training Manager.
Gary enjoys shooting with friends, hiking, and spending time with his wife and children.
